Well, this Perkins is no different than the others I have been to around the country. They have standard diner food, good shakes, and great pie. Their staff is friendly at all locations and appear to enjoy their job. Perkins is a normal decor diner like Village Inn, it is not a vintage decoration diner. One of the best things about Perkins is that it is open REAL late and some 24/7, so there are many bar patrons who stop by to eat after a night out. I have never had any issues with any Perkins I have been to.

Not much to say beside this location never fails me. Service is always very friendly and fast. Recently remodeled added a more modern and cleaner feeling to the outside and inside. I get the American Breakfast or the Chicken Strip Melt.

Despite several employees' efforts to call-off sick at the same time on the night of my visit, I had a wonderful experience at this location! My burger was excellent. My server and the Manager were very apologetic for the length of my wait. The wait staff that did actually show up for work were very helpful and worked well together to get the customers' needs taken care of. Big Kudos to them!!! And as for the employees that attempted to cause problems for the restaurant by calling-off, Perkin's Restaurant, your fellow employees and the customers at this location are better off without you. Thank you for making that so obvious.

So we just flew in to Des Moines , first time ever in Iowa, and this place was recommended by the hotel we were staying at.. I was very skeptical at first.. The place smelled really weird and was very off putting... But I kept an open mind... The food was average ... I guess you could say it was subpar for Iowa ... There milkshakes were the very best I've ever had ... There salads were ok.. I ordered the triple decker and didn't taste like anything special.. My son had the shrimp plate , he enjoyed it for the most part. Over all would recommend this place..

I love Perkins. Things to love about this Perkins: -Open 24/7. -Near the airport, so can stop and get a nice meal before/after flights. -Located a bit off the main road (Fleur) but big, easy parking lot. -Prompt, accurate service. -Their pies are amazefest! -Breakfast for dinner - old-school comfort food, i.e., Southern Fried Chicken Biscuit Platter - their gravy is awesome!!! -Sheareable Sampler is technically an appetizer, but makes a great finger food meal! -Their cookies are perfection - soft and big and chewy and wow. Buy three, get three free, so you get six for a tad over four bucks, but they are huge and totally worth it. Loved the sugar cookie, peanut butter chocolate chip, and regular chocolate chip. -Muffins are delish. I know it's a chain, but Perkins doesn't disappoint. It's kid-friendly, and at 3 AM, it's weirdo/drunk friendly, haha. Love it.

Nice place to stop for a quick bite to eat. Nothing exceptional, but a decent meal at a reasonable price! Friendly service

It's too bad that we don't have a restaurant chain like Perkin's in California. Sure we have Denny's and Carrows but they are incomparable to Perkin's IMO. To begin with, the employees here are genuinely friendly and the service is really personalized. And the food is just great. Can't complain. Maybe it's just Iowa hospitality, idk. But I always have to make a trip here with my relatives whenever I'm in Iowa. 5 stars all the way

I come to Perkins occasionally. It's a nice casual, cheap place to eat with friends or family. The food here isn't super duper amazing, but it has a rustic comforting feeling to it. My only complaint is that the service is a bit inconsistent ranging from super friendly and attentive to unprofessional (it's usually the younger staff members) Other than that, this place is open 24 hours and has a lot of great choices on their menu. I always come back for their Peanut Butter Silk Pie! Overall I'd give this Perkins about a 3.7 stars. Like it mentioned earlier, while the food isn't super amazing, it's pretty good and it's cheap!

We were looking for a place that would be open near the Des Moines airport after getting in late on a much-delayed flight, and a local pointed us in the direction of Perkins as a 24-hr diner-ish spot. (I hadn't heard of the chain before, though I now see that they're all over the place- well, except for New England or California, which I guess explains how I've remained completely unaware of them for so long) Service was friendly and fast, the coffee was fine, and although I was a bit skeptical once I saw the franchisey laminated menus with too many not-fully-thought-through options, the food was also not bad at all. I chose possibly the least auspicious menu option of them all, considering that it's a greasy spoon Denny's-type place: a "shrimpsational Nawlins salad". Now, if you look at the Perkins website, you'll see that the one region outside New England and the Pacific West that's systematically lacking Perkins is the Gulf. So, I'm not entirely sure what the inspiration for the Nawlins salad is: it contains iceberg lettuce, canned olives, hard boiled eggs, fried grean beans, and fried potato slices, with a couple tortilla wedges and chipotle ranch dressing. But that said, it was pretty good, even if the fried toppings were a bit on the salty side. It was kind of the right mix of refreshing crunchy virtuousness and late night fried guilty temptation. I suspect that if it's during more normal hours, we'd hit up one of the more "local flavor" places near the Des Moines airport- but for a late night airport run, this was just right...

Perkins is the type of place you would expect in a Midwest town. I was jet lagged when I got in from Denver and this place was right behind the motel six I was staying at great right? Well yes and no, This being my first time to corn country I decided to start my trip right! The first night there I had the pork Chops with Mashed Potatoes and Corn which was very good. The next morning I had the Farmers Omelet which came with has browns and toast which was wheat. The Omelet was kind of bland but the coffee was very good as well as the has brown's. OK here is for the bad part. My last time to Perkins was on a Saturday I couldn't sleep and was craving a cheeseburger at 3Am went in and was seated by a less then friendly hostess. My waitress was very nice and brought me my double cheeseburger quickly and we had small talk. The only downside of it was I herd two of the servers complaining how tired they were and one girl said within earshot " Fuck this I'm fucking tired." Well then sweetheart shouldn't of picked the graveyard shift. All and all I will be back here again when I return to Iowa! I highly Recommend
